Phyllis was born and raised in Buffalo, New York. Her background includes a degree in English from Cornell University and a Masters Degree in counseling from the University of Rochester.
During her multifaceted career, she has held diverse counseling positions, including university Foreign Student Advisor and Director of a NIDA Drug Abuse Treatment Program. In addition she has worked for the Special Action Office on Drug Abuse Prevention. Phyllis also owned a successful design and remodeling firm before embarking on her real estate career in 1980.
Experience, education and expertise have helped Phyllis set real estate records in the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area, with an average yearly sales volume of $60 - $70 million. She is licensed in DC, Maryland and Virginia. Her negotiation skills and service to clients is legendary. She has been honored as Long & Fosters Agent of the year and is in the top 1% of all agents in the country.
Phyllis is married to Timothy Alexander, a geographer & consultant. They have a son, Howard, a investment banker in New York City and a beautiful daughter in law, Janel, a design director for Banana Republic. After years of suburban Maryland living and an urban adventure in Downtown DC, the Alexander's have returned to the town of Somerset, happily playing with their spoiled dog, Lola!
